To practice real estate sales, or act as mortgage broker, under the California Bureau of Real Estate, either a Real Estate Salespersons License or a Real Estate Brokers License is required. Brokers are required to have a 4 year college degree, or a minimum of 2 years as a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson, successful completion of all real estate course requirements, and the successful passing of an extensive State Brokers License Exam. In comparison, Salespersons must pass a less extensive Salespersons License Exam, are subject to fewer real estate course requirements, and are not subject to the same college education or experience requirements.
